Sassy could only go out on restricted turn out, so she couldn't run too much, not that she could, but just to be safe. Justin went to Tractor Supply and got electric fencing and we split off a little section of the front pasture. This worked pretty well because most of the front pasture we couldn't use anyway because of the fallen tree on the fence. Sassy's leg really swelled up and the swelling was spreading across her flank and all the way down her leg. It was hot and sweaty. I had to call the vet to get a diuretic to help clear the fluid. Everyday I was coming home at lunch to check on her as I was so worried about the swelling. It didn't look like there was a cut or break in the skin, but an infection would not be good. Thankfully the diuretics really helped and two days later all the swelling had gone, except for the hematoma, which could take months to resolve. With the swelling gone she was walking better, still not able to trot.
