I had the day off on Friday (10/21) to volunteer at the Training Level 3 day competition. I figured that since I can't compete, I should at least go watch and get a feel for how cross country day runs. I was a timer and I got to stand in the freezing cold all morning and click the stop watch every time a horse passed through my gate. After the competition finished I walked the course - I think we would have done just fine. It looked like a fun and yet challenging ride. Next year.....
This weekend I went for a ride out with Sandy, down Knight Island Road. Sandy lives right next to "The Preserve" a luxury housing development. She showed me around the trails throughout the property, including a very scenic ride along the Sassafrass River. The beach is man made so the sand is pristine and continues into the river so you can ride in the water and not worry about the footing or rocks. It was a glorious weekend!
