It has been a stressful week trying to settle Firenze into the routine of coming into his stall at night. Working out the order I bring each horse in, the type of bucket Firenze gets his grain in (that he gets the least obsessive over - he paws like crazy with the hanging feeder), leading him to and from the paddock and preventing him from trying to jump over the door. He seems to have got the hang of it now. Sunday I even took Quest over to Barbara's to ride and he didn't get too stressed about her leaving. Saturday we decided to go to the 2010 Pumpkin Chunkin World Championships (www.punkinchunkin.com). We've seen it on the Discovery Channel and thought it would be fun to check it out. We didn't realize how popular it had become, traffic was CRAZY! It took 1.5hrs to get within 5miles. It then took 1.5hrs to travel the last 5miles and get parked. So by the time we finally got to the front line of the action, we only had time to watch about 10 machines fire before we had to go home. But now we know for next time. It looks like the way to go is to get there early and bring lots of food and beer - the whole parking lot was one giant tail gate party. There must have been at least a hundred thousand people there! Sunday Justin installed a couple of spot-lights in the back pasture so I can see where I'm going with the horses next week now itll be dark after the clocks changing. The top photo is the cannons and the bottom photo was the catapults, they also had trebuchets.
