It was a sorry week for poor Firenze as he got castrated. Despite having seen many castrations in the past, it's not as easy to watch when its your own horse and your feeling his pain. He was sedated with local anesthesia but we had to shoot him up a couple of times as it kept wearing off and as he came to he would whinny, it was heart breaking as the vet wrenched away at his manhood and he writhed beneath myself and our neighbor Joe who were sitting on him. Oh well, he'll be better for it. But for a couple of days he was walking like John Wayne. Worst of all we also gave him all his vaccinations too, so he had a stiff neck as well. Poor guy!
