This weekend, after >1yr of schooling and training, Magic, Barbara's Haflinger pony I ride in exchange for use of her indoor arena, is finally ready for his first lesson. Barbara trains with Silva Martin and she was coming for a clinic at Barbara's, so we entered Magic for a lesson. He's come along really well the last few months. The biggest challenge for him was the canter because he is so big and drafty, he has a hard time balancing. It used to be bucking and bolting, but now we can actually canter a circle and so we figured he was ready for some instruction. The lesson went really well, we made good progress and Barbara caught it on video. Hopefully we'll do some competing this year.
